“Emma has been an incredible person to me personally and professionally. She has been one of my biggest mentors in life and a crucial part of my success in my professional career. We have known each other for 15 years now. We have both had our own career and personal ups and downs on a roller coaster ride together, but we have always made each other stronger as we strive to make each other better.
I have never seen someone so determined to not only achieve greatness within herself and but also within her successful professional career which has spanned decades. She always sees something in people and her fellow colleagues that I have never seen before, she is motivated in different ways to other people, she finds happiness and a great sense of achievement by seeing people reach their goals and is always finding the time to put them ahead of hers.
Emma always finds the elusive “road” to an individual’s goals and even if people find it hard to get there, she creates a fun and enjoyable atmosphere for them to encourage them forward whilst giving them an immense sense of pride in completing the journey. Over the years Emma has made me a better all-round person, helping me create great opportunities for myself but also everyone I know that has worked alongside her.
I have never heard a negative comment about Emma, and she has always been held to the highest regard by all her peers and the people she has trained over the years. Emma has the most interesting, innovative and creative mind I have ever seen, consistently coming up with great, purposeful ideas that could change the way we in the industry work today. We have worked together on a few projects, and I am excited to continue, I’ll do everything I can to get the chance to keep working with Emma to create some more amazing opportunities.”

“Emma gives the outward and impartial perspective that can’t be achieved with self reflection. When you combine this with her career at sea and in marine education her angle becomes invaluable. I am very grateful for the mentoring Emma has provided which has undoubtedly helped me progress my career as captain.”
Capt Andy Jamieson
“Emma has always been my go to. She has given me guidance throughout my professional yachting career. She always advises me on what she thinks is the best step for me to progress towards my current role of First Officer.
Emma has known me since I first interviewed with her when she was on the panel for the UKSA Officer Cadetship, where she encouraged me to apply for funding from Trinity House and then strongly encouraged them to sponsor my cadetship. She has always supported me, as a female in the yachting industry to follow my dreams and go down the Officer route.
As well as helping me throughout my professional career Emma has aided me to develop myself in preparation for when one day on move on from the yachting industry. I am currently finishing a final year BSc (Hons)degree in Sustainable Maritime Operations which Emma worked in partnership with MLA College Plymouth to negotiate this fantastic opportunity for me.”

“Emma has been my mentor for many years now and has always been a fantastic support for my personal and professional development. From assisting me in my early days with entering a training pathway and giving me the nurture and guidance to start out, we still have a fantastic relationship today 8 years later.
Every few months we will catch up and have exciting and thought provoking conversations about the industry, where I feel free to share my ideas and experiences. I always feel energised and centred after our talks, taking me out of my day to day operational focus and leaving me inspired to grow professionally and contribute to the development of the industry.
Within the maritime sector especially, Emma is constantly spearheading change and education, and is a well-known point of contact for expert guidance within the community. Emma’s outstanding abilities to make and maintain connections with people is inspiring and her experiences across many different sectors of life provide a constant source to be captured from.
She is someone who I will go back to time and time again.”

Emma first talked to me about a career in the Superyacht industry sat at my kitchen table when I was 16. As a result I joined the deck cadetship programme at UKSA in 2015, and have since successfully qualified as a OOW 3000 and work currently work as a 2nd Officer. Emma has supported me through many years in the yachting industry, despite it being 4 years since she was my official mentor through the programme, the relationship has continued.
I always know wherever I am in the world there is someone willing to listen and help in any situation this industry may throw at you, good or bad.
Throughout the years I have known Emma she has always been able to help me with any business venture I have chosen to look into. I have always found her to be inspiring and to provide inciteful, knowledgeable advice. I cannot speak highly enough or Emma and would recommend her to anyone looking to further themselves within the industry, or if they are looking to create a career after yachting.
Emma has a vast wealth of knowledge and diverse connections, I can always rely on her to give me a truthful, honest response which has helped me throughout my yachting career, on a professional and personal level.

“Emma was my Superyacht Cadetship manager at UKSA, someone who would be best described as a dedicated, approachable and driven professional. Someone who I still go to for advice 6 years later not just for work opportunities but on a personal level also, because I know her solutions and guidance will be up to date, critically thought about and tailored to me as an individual.
Emma is a fabulous person to be around and is greatly respected by everyone she works with, a true figurehead in both the super yachting and maritime training industry. If you have the opportunity to work with Emma, then you are truly privileged. In difficult times experienced within the industry, Emma has always been there to pick up the phone and find time in her busy schedule to guide me to a solution with patience and true encouragement to be the best version of myself.
I wish Emma all the best in her new and exciting ventures. Until we meet again, fair winds and following seas.”

“Having known Emma for the last 7 years, I would highly recommend Emma as a mentor, trainer and leader. Throughout the Cadetship programme at UKSA I always felt encouraged, and able to deal with any problems faced by Emma’s calm, controlled but assertive manner. I always consult Emma on any career decisions and look up to her as a fellow woman in the industry, promoting positive change and equal opportunities.”

“Emma Baggett was my course manager and mentor at the start of my yachting career. She was instrumental in moulding me into the person I am today and without her I would not be in the position I am now in my career. Her caring nature exceeded any job description, and she is still someone I go to now for advice, 6 years after working with her. The time and effort she put into her job was immense and this is why she has affected so many people's careers and lives in such a positive way. Emma brings absolute joy to everyone she works with, and I could have not asked for a better mentor.”

“Emma’s exceptional knowledge of the yachting industry as a whole, tied with her excellent abilities as a mentor, helped me no ends as a ‘green’ crew member entering the industry and allowed me to forge a career in which I have been able to fast track myself.
Despite our Educator/Student status drawing to an end a number of years ago, we consider each other good friends and I still continue to seek Emma’s opinion and advice, which is always greatly appreciated and valued.”

“I have known Emma since 2007; we immediately clicked as she, like me, spent her early career working on Tallships prior to moving into Superyachts.
She is wonderfully gifted and able to understand the diverse extremes of the industry, the eccentricities of the classic yachts, with the ultra high standards and demands of the largest superyachts.
Her range of career experience and combination of skills is very rarely found in one person and even less so applied successfully - Emma has this.
Over the years throughout my various career episodes and adventures, Emma has been a constant, solid and stable hand to guide me. Be it with my own CPD or how to influence, manage or recruit others.
She is a rare and wonderful breed of yachtswoman and businesswoman, with an invaluable skill set, I would recommend her services without hesitation and I look forward to continuing our working relationship.”

“Emma had a huge impact on my life starting out in my career, and it has been a pleasure this last year reconnecting properly with her and being able to help and encourage her along this new path in her life, whilst she has been encouraging me to continue my own new journey both holistic and academic.
It has been amazing to be able to encourage her and so humbling to witness someone who is so willing to take on the challenge of looking within themselves and take time for herself at at a time in life when it could be so easy to pull apart in the opposite direction, which I hope others can learn from.
After discussing my potential plans for the future with Emma in the spring, I am now starting a final year BSc Hons course which is flexible alongside my working life onboard.
The OM is the start of her new business, which I am sure if it is like everything else she does will be worth watching, learning from, and be insanely successful. Super proud of my mentor, friend, drinking companion, for opening herself up publicly and focusing her energy on wellness, education and progression. Always in the hope to serve others.”

“There are so many reasons as to why Emma is widely known for being an excellent mentor. She will always find the positives a bad situation where others could not, through her experience and knowledge she is able to steer an individual in the right direction and guide them through the necessary steps to achieve positive results. She shows genuine care towards her students, truly listening to what they have to say and will always be in their corner.

Emma is possessed of a diverse range of skills and interests that when combined with a passion to drive change, makes her a force to be reckoned with. As a true people person, she has the ability to form strong relationships with everyone she works with. From the cadets she has trained to industry leaders she has worked alongside; her human touch has left her with an expansive network of people invested in both her as an individual and her future ventures.
In her time at UKSA, Emma spent a decade repeatedly building teams that would not only survive but thrive during an intense 6 month program of on and off the water training. From personality and leadership testing to interviewing in order to gauge soft skills, Emma understands what it takes to build diverse, effective and efficient teams. In the case of the cadets the individuals in those teams were then able to enter the Superyacht industry and pursue successful long term deck careers.
Having worked for charities, universities, colleges and large multinational organisations. Emma is a strategic thinker and a very versatile problem solver, who understands the importance of providing value even when restricted by budget.
She has an innate ability to manage large and complex projects and is experienced and successful at creating compelling applications and proposals for funding and support. She has a lifetime of experience in the maritime sector which has facilitated her broad range of skills and knowledge which she uses so effectively in all aspects of her work.
Personally I have a lot to thank Emma for, she took a risk on me as a dyslexic teenager that had fallen out of love with education. Not only did she take me under her wing as a UKSA Superyacht Cadet but also encouraged me to complete a foundation degree at Falmouth Marine School so as not to close any doors for my future. It was this guidance that gave me options when I decided to leave the Superyacht sector.
On my return to university the work ethic I had been taught at UKSA allowed me to achieve a 1st class degree in an industry renowned course and start a new and exciting career as a Shipbroker. None of which would have happened without the time, guidance and support of Emma.”

“Emma has been a massive support to me, both professionally and personally. She has helped and supported me so much over the time I have known her.
She is one of the most kind and real people. Emma gives you honest guidance and encourages you to take chances on yourself. Listening to you and not sugar-coating things. She is unbelievably approachable.
Emma is very knowledgeable about the industry, with many connections. Her advice is always relevant to you.
Emma is such an inspiration to be around. She will make time for you and encourage you and believe in your progression. She is positive even when you're finding it hard to be and will encourage you to find the way forward. As my career has progressed so has the way she has given advice and been part of my development.
It has been a great honour having Emma as part of my life. It's also been a pleasure hearing her inspiring plans grow and develop over the years.
I cannot recommend Emma enough. She is a fantastic mentor.”

“Emma is one of the most supportive, friendly and knowledgeable people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Emma gave me the confidence to persue my degree in Sustainable Maritime Operations and o complete my OOW 3000 which I had absolutely no confidence in doing before our mentorship began. Without the support from Emma I wouldn’t be in the position that I am now, excited for my next career step and looking forwarding to meeting my goals.”

“I don’t believe I can truly explain how important Emma has been in so many peoples lives. When I first met Emma I was a very timid and extremely green, but she took a chance on myself and for that I will be forever grateful.
She gave us the much needed attention and guidance to get us started, including giving myself the kick I needed. But she was always there to fill a room with laughter or hand you a much needed drink! She still drops you a message when you most need it or gives you the honest truth, when you are at another crossroad.
I think all the testimonials share the same statement without Emma we wouldn’t be were we are today. Additionally the industry is lucky to have someone who isn’t happy to keep it the same but to progress it and shape it into a better one each day.
Congratulations to the OM and I hope to see this to grow like any project that has the honor to have Emma behind it.”

“Our team at Superyacht Content have worked with Emma at the OM from the very beginning, and we are happy to say we would recommend The OM to crew and businesses. She demonstrates a passion for supporting yacht crew at all times by mentoring them and supporting their long-term careers. But also, a commitment to pushing sustainability in the Superyacht Sector through collaboration with yachting industry organisations and individuals to provide innovative Superyacht training solutions.”

“I first met Emma Baggett in 2016, at an interview for the UKSA professional yacht cadetship and ever since that day my life has been 200% better. Emma opened my eyes to a whole different life, changing my mindset for the better to help me on my yachting career. Over the 6 months as a cadet at Uksa Emma was my mentor and friend making me feel comfortable with her that I could tell her any troubles I was having, she provided guidance and support for me during my yacht master and the month I was in Antibes looking for my first job, calling me weekly and making sure I wasn’t to hungover all the time.
During the time I have know Emma I have become close with her and her family, she makes me feel like part of the family every time I meet her, always welcomed with open arms (and a cold beer).
Emma has provided countless advice for me whilst I have been in yachting, such as advice on how to deal with a certain situation on board and also cv advice, supporting me through moving new jobs and also putting me forward for new jobs and gaining contacts for me. Emma is one of the most professional, kindest, devoted people I know.”

“Emma Baggett who I also referred to as my “Yacht Mummy” Is a force for change and common sense is the yachting industry. She is well known for her innovative courses such as the UKSA Cadetship program, I myself joined in 2016.
Throughout the early stages of my career, Emma has been an invaluable mentor, compassionately guiding my decision and anyone else’s that has sought out her assistance.
Now as a First Officer, I still stay in touch with Emma socially and professionally, not least to take advantage of her wealth of knowledge or to report any worrying situations developing in the industry as I have felt she has always been an advocate for yacht crew.
She is very well connected in this industry, in particularly I benefit from her links among yacht crew and superyacht course providers, I still today have her down as a reference on my own CV and will often crosscheck other crew agencies and other yachting related organisations, that I believe are in her sphere of influence with Emma before proceeding with them.
I always have, and always will recommend Emma as wealth of advice to yacht crew, whatever the answers they are seeking. She is perfectly suited to become one of the industry’s top consultants. In my option before she started OM, she already was. ”
