Leap of Faith

When I first set up my company I knew what I wanted to achieve, I just was not sure how I was going to do it. I had not taken the easy route, I was not selling widgets I was trying to sell an idea, a theory, a mission and somehow monetise my passion for challenging the norm.

I just knew there had to be a better way and I just knew I had some, if not all of the answers ..

Our careers can send us off on all sorts of tangents or keep us in a rigid cage. Either way it is easy to drift, being carried along without a clear plan as to where you are heading. Sometimes it can take a while to get to that point when you just know you are ready for something new, some people get that lightbulb moment, that flash of Inspiration, but for most of us it does not always happen like that, and it is more a slow realisation that you are not actually that happy or fulfilled any more.

For me it came in a sudden and unexpected way after losing my job. something that I never, ever thought would happen to me. As it turned out It was absolutely the impetus I needed to reset, recharge, refocus and push me to take a leap of faith. I decided that it was time for me to finally be in charge of my own destiny.

In the yachting industry, wanting something more, does not always mean leaving the industry, sometimes making a few adjustments, setting some new goals and finding new inspiration in your own professional development can make all the difference and bring back the vital spark. And for those that do seek a new life ashore, it can seem like an insurmountable task to find a new path and translate your skills and experience into a new career and of course it is definitely not easy walking away from the security and a great income but believe me with thought and planning life does absolutely continue.

Whether it is because it is time to move on and it is the catalyst to break into something new or whether it is about finding the enrichment that keeps you focused and brings you new enjoyment, fulfilment and perspective in your role, start planning, thinking, talking walking and find that new path .....

Take a leap of faith
